Palma Nova holidays - A little gem of a resort, Palma Nova is the more laid back and definitely more sedate relative of neighbouring Magalluf. Happily lacking some of the brasher elements, the resort nonetheless has a lively vibe and some pretty swinging nightlife. This is a Majorca resort which is established and reputable.
Primarily, a sun resort must have an excellent beach. Palma Nova does. The beach is long and sandy and is flanked by a most attractive promenade, well planted with swaying, frondy palm trees. In fact, the promenade stretches all the way into Magalluf, so you can benefit from two resorts rolled into one. What starts as a leisurely evening stroll could change tempo and end up in BCM disco until the early hours! A close neighbour of Santa Ponsa too, a further change of scene is possible.
The locals all emerge for a "rambla" on the prom too, so you can watch the Spanish world go by, admire their fashion sense and pat their little pooches. The resort has a great selection of shops and window shopping is a favourite pastime before dinner. Talking of which, there are some brilliant restaurants with local cooking, Mediterranean fare or international dishes - literally, every taste and palate is catered to. Holidays to Majorca need not all be frenetic because Portals Nous can be laid back as can Porto Colom on the east coast.
There are pubs, cafes and bars too. Many are quiet, romantic little hideaways and others have live music or giant screen TV - just in case you absolutely cannot miss a football match or X Factor final! Back on the beach, you can gaze at the hordes of holidaymakers embarking on the glass bottom boat excursion (or join them!) or enjoy a swim in the balmy ocean.
Take a pedalo ride to top up the tan and exercise those thigh muscles or go windsurfing or parascending for the ultimate adrenalin rush. Palma Nova is a resort that seems to suit many age groups. It can be quiet and reflective or wild and wonderful. Whether you seek relaxing, romantic evenings or crazy party nights, this could be the one for you. The other constant will be the sun - lots of it!
