The brilliant concept of Over 50s holidays has been embraced with eagerness by holidaymakers from Ireland.
Destinations in Spain and Portugal are especially active in their efforts to boost visitor footfall in their resorts in off peak months. What a bonus! It means that really great deals are on offer from September onwards in top resorts and in lovely hotels.
Many good standard hotels are promoting attractive prices, wine with dinner, free bottled water and, in some cases, even free excursions, so these Over 50 deals absolutely cannot be missed. In many instances, only one of the party travelling must be in the Over 50 bracket, so it is possible to bring a younger companion. It means therefore that the Over 50s holidays are accessible to many and don’t have too many constraints.
The main destinations for Over 50 holidays are Majorca, Costa del Sol, Lanzarote and the Algarve. The Over 50s offers in Spain and the Algarve are usually available all through the winter.
Just one thing to watch out for is that some hotels (including the VIK San Antonio in Lanzarote) restrict their offers to over 55s.
