Costa Del Sol Holidays

This stunning stretch of coastline in the south of Spain is one of the world’s most popular tourist destinations. With back to back resort towns and kilometres of pristine golden beaches, it’s no wonder people return to the Sun Coast year after year. The region is known for its spectacular climate, upbeat resorts, and quality golf courses.

A holiday to the Costa del Sol is a diverse experience, with something for everyone. Because the region is developed and so well-known, there is quite a variety of ways to enjoy all it has to offer. For example, there are multiple waterparks, zoos, and calm beaches ideal for families with younger children. Young couples and groups of friends will love the lively promenades lined with trendy bars and restaurants. Luxurious resorts, spas, and clubs will appeal to some, while there are more affordable options for the budget traveller.

Málaga, the unofficial capital of the Costa del Sol, offers a wealth of culture and fun to explore on a city break to diversify your holiday. The beach towns of Torremolinos, Benalmadena, Nerja, Marbella, and others offer their own unique flair, making up the distinct and varied Costa del Sol.

Beautiful Beaches

Playa de Burriana, Nerja: Burriana Beach is one of the most popular beaches on the Costa del Sol, and it’s easy to see why. With soft, golden sand, clear waters, a variety of watersports, and chiringuitos, small traditional restaurants, this beach has it all.

Playa Malapesquera, Benalmadena: Located only a 10-minute walk from Benalmadena centre, this shady beach is an ideal spot for a fun day in the sun. With ample space for volleyball and football games and plenty of watersport rentals closeby, Playa Malapesquera is both entertaining and convenient.

Playa de Cabopino, Marbella: Cabopino Beach has calm, safe waters, fine sand, and places to rent all sorts of beach equipment. You can even hop on a dolphin-watching tour right from the beach. Close to the beach area you’ll find a good selection of bars and restaurants for an affordable lunch or midday treat.

Playa de la Carihuela, Torremolinos: The largest beach in Torremolinos, Carihuela Beach is popular among both families and couples. The promenade along the beach is ideal for having a meal or grabbing a drink, but also for cycling and running. Right on the beach, you can rent sun loungers, umbrellas, and water sports equipment. There are also public toilets, showers, play areas, and disabled access.

“Costa del Golf”

Finca Cortesín, Casares: This premier 18-hole course is constantly ranked among the best in Europe. It also hosted the Volvo World Match Play Championships in 2009, 2011 and 2012. The course also boasts stunning views of the Mediterranean and Andalusian landscape.

La Cala, Mijas: This is one of the largest golf resorts on the Costa del Sol, with three different courses to choose from varying in difficulty level. More advanced golfers prefer Campo Asia or Campo America, while beginners should try Campo Europa. There is also a luxury hotel and spa within the resort.

Torrequebrada, Benalmedena: Located a convenient 20-minute drive from Malaga Airport, Torrequebrada is heralded as one of Europe’s finest golf courses. This course is especially well-integrated into Costa del Sol’s beautiful natural surroundings. With panoramic mountain and sea views, Torrequebrada won’t disappoint.

Marbella Club, Mijas: More experienced golfers will love the challenging course attached to the Marbella Club. In addition to its difficulty level, the Marbella Club course features incredible views of Gibraltar and the north African coast around its seventh hole. This course is also among the more affordable options in Costa del Sol.

Family-friendly Fun

Aquamijas Waterpark, Mijas, Malaga: The Aquamijas Waterpark is considered to be one of the best in Spain! The park features five huge water slides, a whole mini golf course, rock climbing, jacuzzis, and more. There’s more than enough to entertain people of all ages in this fun adventure park!

Castillo de Colomares, Benalmadena: For a cultural and historical attraction, Castillo de Colomares makes for a great family outing. Here you can go on a 16-stop tour exploring the castle’s stunning architecture and making the magic come alive!

Cable Car, Benalmadena: In only 15 minutes, the cable car will take you to the top of Mount Calamorro. You can take in breathtaking views of Andalusia, the Mediterranean, and the African shoreline in the distance.

Sea Kayaking, Maro, Nerja, Malaga: Taking a kayak out on the sea and travelling from Burriana Beach to Maro is one of the most popular water sport activities to try when in Costa del Sol. It’s a great way to spend some time outdoors together as a family as well as enjoy the spectacular weather and natural surroundings.
