The whole nation has a chill in their bones from a winter of weekly weather warnings. Now it’s time to start thinking warm. Sunshine. Beaches. Cocktails to cool you down.

Easter is almost here and there’s no better time to take a much-needed break. Although it’s a peak time and slightly more expensive, it’s a great time to travel for both adults and kids. You get an extra day (or two) annual leave, the kids have guaranteed entertainment and you get a little bit of relaxation.

So, the big question… where will you go?

The Algarve

The Algarve is a favourite destination in our office and with our customers. In April, it’ll be a toasty 20 degrees and there’s plenty to keep kids amused between your resort’s pool, the beach and the numerous family activities in the Algarve.

The flight to Faro takes 3 hours and the transfer to Praia do Vau is around 1 hour. Praia do Vau itself is quieter than it’s Algarve counterparts but is just as spectacular with a typical rugged Algarve coast. The quaint fishing village of Alvor is a short few kilometres to the west and the livelier Praia da Rocha and Portimao to the east.

Estrela do Vau Apartments

For a family holiday, we recommend the Estrela do Vau in Praia do Vau. It has a large swimming pool, kids pool, mini golf and is just 600m to the beach.

Salou

On the golden coast of Spain, Salou is a brilliant destination for a family getaway. Over Easter, it’s between 15 and 20 degrees. With PortAventura in Salou and neighbouring towns of Cambrils and Tarragona to be explored, there’s lots to be seen and done!

The flight to Barcelona takes 2.5 hours and the transfer to Salou takes around 1.5 hours. Salou has always been a popular destination with Irish families, it has 14km of safe, calm, sandy beaches for splashing about and endless opportunities to make lifetime memories.

CYE Holiday Centre

For a family holiday, we recommend the CYE Holiday Centre in Salou. With central, spacious apartments and entertainment for kids, it’s ideal for families.

Majorca

The largest of the Balearic Islands, Majorca has plenty to keep families entertained.

The flight to Palma takes just over 2.5 hours and the transfer to Alcudia takes around 50 minutes. From history to white sandy beaches to water parks, Alcudia is a great pick for a family holiday as there’s something for every age.

BelleVue Club Alcudia

For a family holiday, we recommend the BelleVue in Alcudia. It is jam-packed with activities including 8 swimming pools, mini golf, go-karting and is only a short walk from the beach.

Barcelona

If you prefer a city break, Barcelona is a perfect city for all ages! The flight time to Barcelona is 2.5hours from Dublin with transfers taking between 30mins and 1 hour. Whether you’re admiring the creativity of Gaudi, exploring the Bosc Urbana adventure park or taking in the city from the thrilling hilltop Tibidabo amusement park, you’re guaranteed excitement in this iconic city.

Sunotel Aston Barcelona

For a family holiday, we recommend the Sunotel Aston in Barcelona. It has spacious rooms and a central location making it perfect for a city break!
