City Sights

Genoa is home to many sacred places and monuments as well as old town walls and forts which make it a really interesting place to explore. Being the largest old town in Europe, you will spend your days spent wandering through the caruggi alleyways of the city which are narrow and full of character and charm. In the centre of the city, you will find the Piazza De Ferrari, a beautiful town square with a fountain centrepiece at its heart.

The Lighthouse of Genoa, another fantastic attraction, has looked over the city from above for over 800 years. Being 76 meters tall, it is also considered one of Italy’s tallest lighthouses and also the world’s third oldest lighthouse that is still in operation today.

Along the shore, you can stroll along Genoa’s seaside promenade known as the Corso Italia, which stretches for 2km. Finally, if you have time to venture outside the city, Boccadasse is a gorgeous ancient fishing village just on the outskirts of Genoa that is known for its beautiful pastel coloured buildings.

World-class Cuisine

Did you know that Genoa is the city that gave us pesto and ravioli? The cuisine in Genoa features green herbs over tomatoes and offers a unique twist on authentic Italian cuisine because of this. Pesto features heavily on the menus of the city’s dining establishments and is a must try alongside all of the other delicious Italian food offerings you can enjoy throughout. Another highlight on the cuisine front is the fresh seafood. Being Italy’s busiest port city, Genoa has an incredible seafood cuisine offering that is a must try for all who visit.
