Destinations / Madeira
Located off the coast of Africa, Madeira is 400km north of the Canary Islands and is an autonomous region of Portugal.
Known as the 'Floating Garden', Madeira is a beautiful island with dramatic cliffs, exotic plants and lush greenery. You can spend your days immersed in nature, discovering the vast variety of plants in the Botanic Gardens or explore the island on a jeep safari.
Home of Cristiano Ronaldo, sport is a large part of life on the island. Whether it's a cycling race, canyoning down the mountain, hiking along the levandas, scuba diving or running, Madeira is a great destination for those who like to stay active.
It's also fantastic for those who enjoy delicious food and wine. Madeira has been producing its own wines since the 15th Century, varying from dry to sweet dessert wines. You can do tours of Maderia's top vineyards and food tours around the capital, Funchal to sample some of the local dishes.
Relaxing, exploring or having an active holiday, Madeira is a stunning island with something for everyone.
