Sliema / St Julians

Sliema is Malta's largest resort and is situated just under 3 miles from the beautiful capital city, Valletta. With a long seafront lined with cafes, excellent restaurants and bars, Sliema is favoured by the Maltese for a leisurely stroll. It is splendid for shopping and makes a good holiday base with its cheap and frequent bus service to other parts of the island. The satellite resort of Saint Julian's was once a quaint fishing village, but is now the most up tempo resort on the island. There is a cosmopolitan feel to Sliema and Saint Julian's and, combining the charm of the picturesque harbour, Spinola Bay with the sheer vibrancy of the more modern area of Paceville (pronounced Patchi ville!), there really is something for everyone. Hotels in Saint Julian's are well located to avail of all the resort's amenities.

The open air terraces and pretty balconies overlooking Spinola Bay belong to some of the best restaurants around and there is nowhere more romantic on a moonlit night. Nearby Paceville is the party mecca of Malta with discos and clubs and the resort has certainly roused the island from its once sleepy reputation.
