No prizes for guessing what the main event in Golf del Sur, Tenerife is all about! However, this delightful resort, (located about 15 klms. from the resorts of Los Cristianos and Playa de las Americas) has an awful lot more going for it than just golf. Obviously, golf is the raison d'etre of Golf del Sur and a range (pardon the pun) of courses from 9 hole to a championship 27 hole, driving ranges and classy clubhouses run the gamut of impeccable greens, lush fairways, ocean views, sandy bunkers, palm trees and native succulents. Stunningingly landscaped within this mecca of natural beauty, your golfing prowess will surely tee off straight on to the leader board!
Golf del Sur resort is green and gorgeous and incredibly picturesque. Cosily cocooned on Tenerife's southern coast, there is a rocky coastline with pockets of shingle and black sand beaches. El Medano (great for windsurfing) is the closest beach but the softest sand beach is at Los Cristianos. A magnificent coastal walk is recommended for the sure-footed (there are a few very steep inclines), but the wild Atlantic ocean views along the way are worth the effort.
Golf del Sur's compact resort centre caters admirably to golfers, couples and family groups. There are plenty of excellent restaurants serving a variety of cuisine spanning Catalan tapas and international fare, local bars, an Irish pub (naturally!), upmarket lounge bars and shops. Daytimes in Golf del Sur are laid back and peaceful with most visitors either on the fairway or the beach, but evenings are full of fun and laid back joie de vivre. The sole nightclub, Taboo's, is the only, the best and the busiest club in town where everyone goes to party!
The pretty marina at Amarilla Golf sees the embarcation point for Submarine Safaris and pleasure craft trips whilst the nearby traditional town of San Blas provides great restaurants with typical Canarian food, a few trendy boutiques and some lively bars.
Top quality hotels in Golf del Sur offer the highest standards throughout and many have childrens' clubs and adult spas where volcanic treatments are available, so there are more ways to relax than just beach lounging or golfing! Doubtless, a holiday in Golf del Sur has amenities to suit the golfer, the family, the discerning visitor and the beach babes in equal measure.
