Located on the south coast of Madeira Island, at Garajau, famous for the 'Garajau Nature Reserve', the only solely marine reserve in Portugal, a paradise for diving. With 263 rooms and Suites, a heated indoor pool that has a sliding roof, two outdoor pools and a pool for kids, the Dom Pedro Garajau is a pleasant and welcoming hotel to spend a few days as a family, a couple or with a group of friends. To help you enjoy Madeira's delicious cuisine to the fullest, we developed the new concept 'Dine Around', which allows guests on half-board or full-board to choose from the hotel buffet or the Tourigalo restaurant in front of the hotel. All our costumers are subject to pay a Municipal Tourist ecotax at Dom Pedro Garajau:€2 per person, per day, up to a maximum of €14 (7 nights) per person, per stay. Children under 13 are exempt.

Like the origin of many tourist resorts, Garajau was once a tiny fishing village. Now, perhaps, incredibly, it is one of the most fashionable residential areas in Madeira!
It got its name from the flocks of terns that used to populate the steep cliffs along the coastline. The breathtaking views towards the Deserta Islands and, (situated on an outcrop just below Garajau), the huge statue of the Saviour with outstretched arms are the two distinctive features in the vicinity.
The area has one of Europe's first underwater nature reserves, so conservatioin is high on the agenda here as porpoise, seal and whale have a sanctuary. Visiting the lush gardens and walking along the levadas in the area are all favourite pastimes. In addition a couple of great golf courses are within easy reach. The village has a supermarket,bars, shops and a few local restaurants.
Regular transport to nearby Funchal (only 8 km away) operates several times daily.
