One of the many inlets on the island of Malta, St. Paul's Bay is perhaps the best known of all the resorts and also has claim to fame as being the biggest and most popular. Really encompassing the 2 resorts of Qawra (pronounced OOra!) at one end and Buggiba at the other, the little harbour area of St. Paul's is still very pretty with bobbing boats (gaily painted, of course!) and the odd fisherman mending nets. Don't forget too that Malta is famous for diving and many PADI schools operate here.

This attractive canvas for St Paul's Bay holidays is backdrop to the array of balconied restaurants which curve round the bay, mostly serving delicious fresh fish and seafood and many variations of pizza and pasta, testament to the island's proximity to Italy. These days, the resorts are joined up by a promenade which stretches along the seafront and is busy by day and night with cruising cars, curious locals enjoying a ramble and eager visitors choosing the evening venue for eating and drinking.

Busy and bustling, the whole area around St. Paul's is pleasant without being too brash and has the benefit of good infrastructure whilst managing to retain an intrinsic attraction. Aided by true Maltese hospitality, tourists feel at home here and are often surprised by the genuine welcome of the locals who are justly proud of their lovely home.

The historical interest provided by the Knights of St. John is visible most prominently in the gorgeous capital, Valletta, but there are other reminders such as the salt pans at Salina Bay, created by the Knights for local use and for trading purposes.
